    • BANFF, Alberta (Reuters) -German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil said on Thursday the Group of Seven advanced economies will most likely have a joint communique showing its support for Ukraine. "We will make it clear and I am very positive that we will also reach a joint communique," Klingbeil said at a press conference in Banff. If Russia is not prepared to enter into serious negotiations with Ukraine, "we will consider further sanctions," he added.

The G7 leaders are set to issue a joint communique at their summit in Hiroshima, Japan, focusing on their unwavering support for Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia. The communique will emphasize the G7's commitment to upholding international law and order, and will include plans to enhance sanctions against Russia to hinder its war efforts. Additionally, the leaders will discuss strategies to counter economic coercion and address global issues such as climate change and nuclear disarmament, reflecting the summit's location in Hiroshima, a city symbolic of the devastating effects of nuclear weapons.
