In April, the Trump Administration paused many tariffs, but not for China, the largest importer of tea.
The owner of a local tea business in San Francisco, Vital Tea Leaf, expressed feelings of being unfairly targeted by the city's new vending regulations, which were implemented to address street vending issues but have impacted small businesses like hers. The owner, who has been operating for 15 years, feels singled out as the only business in her area required to comply with these new rules, which mandate a permit and specific operating hours. She argues that her business, which sells prepackaged tea and does not contribute to the street clutter the regulations aim to reduce, should be exempt. The city, however, maintains that the regulations are necessary for public safety and order, and they are working on clarifying which businesses need to comply.
