  • There won't be any new convenience stores, vape shops, gas stations and package stores in the near future for Millbrook. This week the city council approved a pause on issuing new construction and business licenses for those types of businesses.

The city of Millbrook, Alabama, has temporarily stopped issuing new business licenses for vape shops and package stores to review and potentially update its zoning and licensing regulations. This decision was made during a city council meeting on May 14, 2025, and aims to address concerns about the concentration and impact of these businesses within the community. Existing vape shops and package stores are not affected by this moratorium, which will last for 180 days unless extended by the council. The city plans to use this period to study the current landscape and develop new ordinances that could better regulate the location and operation of such businesses.
