W2 Energy Inc.: W2 Energy and R&J Howell Partner on Carbon Credit Certification
TORONTO--(Marketwire - March 26, 2009) - W2 Energy Inc. (
"W2 Energy and R&J Howell are working with a carbon offset consulting firm to certify that W2 Energy mass-to-energy plants are closed-loop plants which actually rid the environment of carbon-based pollution," says Mike McLaren, CEO of W2 Energy. "W2 Energy will do more than claim to be green, we will prove it."
The carbon offset consulting firm will be analyzing test data and the actual machinery for W2 Energy, and certifying that the W2 Energy technology does not emit any carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. The consulting firm will also certify that the W2 Energy technology consumes carbon bearing feedstocks, including municipal solid waste, tires and sewage, and converts the energy and mass in those feedstocks into electricity and liquid hydrocarbon fuels such as ultra low sulfur diesel, gasoline and JP8 jet fuel.
"When this certification process is complete, we will trade the carbon credits from our waste-to-energy plants on the European and Chicago Climate Exchanges," says McLaren. "At W2 Energy we believe strongly that carbon credits will comprise an important segment of the renewable energy industry, and we intend to participate vigorously in the carbon credit marketplace."
