TORONTO--(Marketwire - March 5, 2009) - W2 Energy Inc. (PINKSHEETS: [ WTWO ]), a developer of green energy, is pleased to announce that it has sold a SEGS hydroelectric generating system to Alpha Renewable Energy. SEGS stands for Small Electrical Generating Systems.

Alpha Renewable Energy will pay W2 Energy $35,000 upon delivery for the SEGS system and will deploy it on the stream bed of the Naramada Canal in India.

This riverbed turbine system will rest on the bottom of the canal. The system consists of a propeller and propeller housing, hydraulic pump, hydraulic motor and generator.

The Naramada Canal moves at a rate of 1.69 meters per second. The canal water will spin the propeller inside of the propeller housing, which will drive a hydraulic pump, which will push fluid through hoses to the Steam Ray engine which has been modified to run on hydraulic fluid. As the Steam Ray spins it will drive the electrical generator.

"The SEGS system offers many advantages over conventional hydroelectric systems and over conventional power production systems in general," says Mike McLaren, CEO of W2 Energy. "The SEGS system can take energy input from any energy source which produces hydraulic pressure and drive a single engine and generator with all that combined power."

If the SEGS system works well on location, Alpha Renewable Energy will deploy commercial size SEGS systems.

"Alpha Renewable Energy sees the commercial potential of the W2 Energy SEGS systems. They realize that one SEGS system could produce power from the wind, from the sun and from a canal -- all in one location and one integrated system," says McLaren. "It's a winner. We are sure of it."
