NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 8, 2009) - As a way to celebrate Earth Day on April 22, Con Edison is inviting customers to join 122,000 New Yorkers who have gone paperless with the company's green e*bill billing and payment option. More than 78,000 customers enrolled last year alone.
This month, the company was awarded the 2009 George Mitchell Payments System Excellence Award by NACHA, The Electronic Payments Association, for its innovative and aggressive campaign that saw a 50 percent increase in customer participation last year. NACHA is a not-for-profit association that oversees one of the largest electronic payment networks in the world.
Con Edison's e*bill program is a fast, convenient and environmentally friendly electronic billing and payment option. As an added incentive, the company donates $1 to a nonprofit tree planting fund for every customer who enrolls.
