QUINCY, IL--(Marketwire - April 9, 2009) - Mercantile Bancorp, Inc. (NYSE Amex: MBR) today announced that Sheri Boyle has been named Senior Vice President, Director of Human Resources for the company effective April 13.

In her new position, she will be responsible for all aspects of the company's human resource functions including employment, compensation, benefits administration, payroll and training. Ms. Boyle will develop, recommend and administer policies and procedures, and advise executive management about legislative and industry trends affecting human resources programs. She will report directly to president and CEO, Ted T. Awerkamp.

Boyle has over 12 years of experience in the human resource field, most recently serving as Global Compensation Manager for Gardner Denver, Inc. in Quincy. Boyle's prior experience also includes administrative human resource and compensation analysis positions in the St. Louis area with Bunge North America, Emerson, and Campaign Tel, Limited and Affiliated.

Boyle earned her B.A. in Media Communications from Truman State University, and an M.A. in Human Resource Management from Webster University. She is a World at Work Certified Compensation Professional (CPP) and member of the Society of Human Resource Management. Boyle is also active in the community and serves as a Boy Scouts of America den leader and committee member.
