MERRIMACK, NH--(Marketwire - January 9, 2009) - Pennichuck Corporation (NASDAQ: [ PNNW ]) today announced that the Company's Board of Directors has authorized a 6.1 percent cash dividend increase above the December 1, 2008 quarterly cash dividend payment. The Company will commence paying the increased dividend on March 2, 2009 to shareholders of record as of February 9, 2009. Beginning with the March 2, 2009 payment, Pennichuck's quarterly dividend will increase to $.175 per share from $.165 per share ($.70 per share versus $.66 per share per annum).

Commenting on the dividend increase, Duane C. Montopoli, Pennichuck's President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "The increase in the cash dividend reflects our confidence in the Company's long-term future and our commitment to provide consistent returns to our shareholders."

Mr. Montopoli further noted that the Company's next dividend reinvestment date under its Dividend Reinvestment and Common Stock Purchase Plan is February 1, 2009. Shareholders wishing to purchase additional shares under that plan should ensure that their payment is received by the Company's transfer agent (American Stock Transfer & Trust Company) no later than January 28, 2009.
