CINCINNATI--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) has been wallowing near hypothetical support at zero since September 2008, when the U.S. government swooped in and bailed out the ailing insurance giant. All told, the shares have shed 97% during the previous 52 weeks.

Due to the sharp and sudden nature of its September sell-off, it took AIG's descending 10-week moving average a while to catch up with the stock's decline. However, this staunch resistance level is once again perched directly overhead, and it has effectively capped the equity's progress in recent months.
