The Hartford Provides Payment Relief to Tennessee Policyholders Affected by Flooding

HARTFORD, Conn.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: HIG) will continue to insure homeowners, automobile, commercial insurance, individual life and group benefits customers affected by flooding in Tennessee if they are temporarily unable to make their premium payments.

"We hope this temporary suspension will provide our policyholders with some relief."

Although premium bills will continue to be issued, policy cancellations due to non-payment will be temporarily suspended in the 52 designated counties in Tennessee retroactive to May 1, 2010. The grace period will extend to June 11, 2010.

"This payment relief is intended to provide Hartford policyholders with extra time to organize their affairs following the catastrophic flooding that has affected so many lives," said John Wilcox, senior vice president for personal lines at The Hartford. "We hope this temporary suspension will provide our policyholders with some relief."
