









Jon Winkelried to Retire as President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Goldman Sachs

NEW YORK--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE:GS) today announced that Jon Winkelried, the firm's President and Co-Chief Operating Officer and a member of its Board of Directors, would be retiring effective March 31, 2009. Mr. Winkelried has been with the firm since 1982 and served as President and Co-Chief Operating Officer and a director since June 2006. Prior to that, he served in many roles, including as co-head of our Investment Banking division and co-head of our Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities business. He will continue to be affiliated with the firm as a senior director.
