NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - May 17, 2010) - Franklin Templeton Real Estate Advisors (FTREA), the global real estate investment arm of Franklin Templeton Investments, today announced that it has hired Julie Rost as vice president, private real estate. Ms. Rost, based in Rancho Cordova (Sacramento County, CA), will be responsible for sourcing of, and due diligence on, private real estate fund investment opportunities in the Americas. She will focus on a wide variety of investment funds, from established to emerging managers at various stages of fund formation. The investment universe for FTREA's private multi-manager platform centers on managers who are targeting market inefficiencies across various property sectors and geographies. Rost reports to Marc Weidner, managing director of FTREA.

"The emergence of new managers, combined with an uneven property market, is anticipated to result in a wide dispersion of returns among managers, making extensive due diligence all the more important," said Weidner. "We are delighted to have someone with Julie Rost's market knowledge and experience on our team as we continue to grow Franklin Templeton Real Estate Advisors' global platform to meet the needs of our clients."

"Institutional real estate investors today are looking for solutions that can provide both opportunities for diversification and the potential for attractive risk-adjusted returns," said Jack Foster, FTREA's global head and managing director. "Julie joins a team of seasoned professionals which will continue to seek out successful specialist managers who can take advantage of inefficiencies and recent distress in the local property markets."

Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, Ms. Rost held senior real estate positions with several leading organizations in California. As a director and member of the senior management team of Perseus Realty Partners, Rost raised third-party commingled, discretionary real estate funds as well as capital for the firm's principal investment funds. As senior vice president with Eastdil Secured, Rost opened the firm's Sacramento office, and joined the private equity team focused on major commercial real estate equity, private fund structuring, joint ventures and structured finance transactions, generating and closing over $2 billion in equity transactions. Rost also served as a real estate investment officer with California Public Employees' Retired System (CalPERS).

Rost is a member of several professional associations including the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), where she serves on the National Board of Directors. In 2007, Rost was awarded CREW's "Woman of Impact" award which recognizes a member who "has had a profound impact on the local real industry."
