CenterPoint Energy Donates $25,000 to Mississippi Disaster Recovery Fund
HOUSTON, July 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the devastating storms and floods affecting communities throughout Mississippi, CenterPoint Energy (NYSE: [ CNP ]) recently donated $25,000 to the state's Disaster Recovery Fund.

"CenterPoint Energy has a long tradition of helping those in need in the communities in which we live and work," said Steven Greenley, vice president of Gas Operations in Mississippi. "We are pleased to present these funds to help those who have been so deeply impacted by these disasters."
A number of communities in Mississippi are working hard to recover from the April 15 and April 27 storms, while many others have been tragically affected by the flooding of the Mississippi River in spring 2011. The Mississippi Disaster Recovery Fund is a nonprofit corporation that will coordinate donations to aid residents and meet needs that cannot be met by government resources. To date, the fund has collected more than $150,000 from individuals and companies.

"These generous gifts will help our communities address those needs that government cannot meet. Our people are resilient, and they will build their homes and businesses back strong."

Donors also can send a check to the Mississippi Disaster Recovery Fund, c/o BankPlus, 4450 Old Canton Road, Suite 101, Jackson, MS, 39211, or donate at any BankPlus branch.
In the last year, nearly 4,000 CenterPoint Energy employees and retirees, along with their families and friends have contributed more than 220,000 hours of volunteer time.
