Sprott Power Corp. Appoints Finn Greflund to the Board of Directors

TORONTO, July 14, 2011 /CNW/ - John Varghese, Chairman of Sprott Power Corp. ("Sprott Power" or "the Company") (TSX: SPZ), a developer, owner and operator of renewable energy projects, today announced that the Company has appointed Finn Greflund to its Board of Directors.

His work and experience in power generation are well known throughout the industry," said Mr. Varghese.  "The addition of Finn strengthens the Board and thus will provide the Company with further leadership to continue its growth into one of the leading independent renewable energy companies in Canada."

Mr. Greflund has over 30 years of power development business experience in North America.  Previously, he served as Vice President, Power Generation Development at TransCanada Energy Ltd. where he led a team of professionals responsible for securing, developing and negotiating power contracts for the Corporation's thermal and renewable power portfolio.  He is a past Director of the Independent Power Producers Society of Ontario, now called the Association of Power Producers of Ontario, and received their 2010 Hedley Palmer Award for outstanding contribution to the power generation industry.  He is currently a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and the Institute of Corporate Directors.

With the addition of Mr. Greflund, Sprott Power also announced the departure of Mr. Michael Ross from the Board of Directors.
