JMP Group Appoints James F. Wilson to Real Estate Investment Banking Group

SAN FRANCISCO--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--JMP Group Inc. (NYSE: JMP), an investment banking and alternative asset management firm, announced today that JMP Securities, JMP Groupa™s broker-dealer subsidiary, has appointed managing director James F. Wilson to its real estate investment banking group as head of residential real estate and development. Mr. Wilson previously served for over a decade as director of research at JMP Securities and as a widely recognized equity research analyst covering the residential real estate sector.

Prior to joining JMP Securities in 1999, Mr. Wilson was a managing director and senior research analyst at Jefferies & Company, where he covered REITs, homebuilders, manufactured housing and resort, vacation ownership and property-related service companies. He previously served as a senior research analyst in the real estate and building group at Montgomery Securities, now Banc of America Securities, and as an equity research analyst at Sutro & Company, following companies in the financial services, business services and real estate industries. Mr. Wilson holds a B.A. in economics from Whitman College and is a chartered financial analyst.

In 2011, Mr. Wilson was ranked second among all stock pickers in the real estate category in the annual aBest on the Streeta analyst survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal; in 2003 through 2006, he ranked each year as a top-five stock picker in the home construction category.
