HALIFAX, July 11, 2011 /CNW/ - Emera Inc. (TSX: EMA) has entered into a partnership with Canadian Olympian Adrienne Power which will see the company pay all training costs for the sprinter from East Jeddore, NS. The arrangement is intended to continue through the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

"This sponsorship supports our commitment to employee and community wellness and we are delighted that we are able to help Adrienne in her quest to bring home an Olympic medal."

Emera's sponsorship of Adrienne Power includes a commitment to pay for all training and associated costs that will enable Adrienne to compete at the highest level and achieve her full potential as an athlete. Emera's internal focus on health and wellness has achieved great success. More than three-quarters of Emera employees take advantage of the company's health and wellness program - which includes support for everything from healthy eating to personal fitness to smoking cessation. Emera employees take half the number of sick days compared to similar companies across Canada.
The partnership between Power and Emera was facilitated by the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, who hosted the announcement. The Centre is the new training home for high performance athletes from Nova Scotia and across Canada. The facility is in the Canada Games Centre which was home to several events for the recent 2011 Canada Winter Games.

It's consistent with the Centre's mandate to support our athletes as they seek to achieve excellence at the international level.
