Julie Hextell Will Succeed Arthur Yuan as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, David Hennekes hired as Vice President of Marketing

AKRON, Ohio, July 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstEnergy Solutions, the competitive subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: [ FE ]), today announced that Julie Hextell will become senior vice president of Sales and Marketing, succeeding Arthur Yuan, who plans to retire in 2013 following a 13-year career with the company.  In addition, David Hennekes was named vice president of Marketing.  These changes are effective September 6, 2011.

Hextell was senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Constellation New Energy (CNE), in charge of marketing, customer insight, strategic finance, market development, product development, technical sales and sales operations. Her experience includes leading the Great Lakes and Mid Atlantic Regions as CNE's regional vice president.  More recently, Hextell was the chief operating officer of SoCore Energy, a second-phase solar development company, where she was responsible for developing strategic action plans, managing product and market development, quality assurance, construction, finance and legal.  Hextell graduated from Loyola University with a bachelor of arts degree in History/Political Science and received a law degree from DePaul University College of Law.  

Hennekes was vice president and general manager for the residential division at TXU Energy, responsible for shaping the company's consumer competitive strategies.  His industry experience also includes holding management positions at Reliant Energy and LG&E Energy, a subsidiary of PPL Corporation.  Hennekes earned a bachelor of business administration degree in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.  

For the next 18 months, Yuan will be on special assignment assisting with the transition.  "Arthurhas been instrumental in selecting Julie as his successor," says Schneider.  "He and I are pleased Julie is on board so we can work together to ensure a seamless transition for this critical leadership role."
