Thu, March 17, 2011 GEa?s 6FA Technology to Play a Major Role in the Modernization of Russiaa?s Energy Infrastructure
MOSCOW--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Russian power generation company TGK-9, an affiliate of Integrated Energy Systems (IES) , has selected advanced gas turbine technology from GE (NYSE: GE) for a combined-cycle plant that will supply heat and electricity for the residents of Berezniki, an industrial city in Russiaa™s Urals Federal District. The project supports the Russian governmenta™s initiative to continue to modernize its energy infrastructure and to meet the countrya™s growing power needs.

GE will supply two Frame 6FA gas turbine and associated generators plus technical assistance, on-site training and performance testing for the combined-cycle project, which is expected to produce 220 megawatts of new power for the region. The electricity will be distributed under an agreement between the Russian Ministry of Energy and IES, Russiaa™s largest private power supply and gas distribution company.
