BEIJING--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Lazard Ltd (NYSE:LAZ) today announced that it has hired Yan Lan as a Managing Director and Head of Greater China Investment Banking, effective April 2011, as part of the firma™s plans to continue to invest in the region. Based in Beijing, Ms. Yan joins Lazard from Gide Loyrette Nouel, where she was an advisor on mergers and acquisitions and foreign direct investment projects in China, and was a Partner in charge of the Beijing office for the past twelve years.

At Gide Loyrette Nouel, Ms. Yan advised clients on mergers and acquisitions in China and foreign direct investment projects into China across a wide range of sectors. She also advised Chinese companies on their investment projects in Africa and in Europe.

Ms. Yan holds a Doctorate in Political Science from the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva. She also holds an LL.M in International Law from Beijing University, and was a Research Associate at Harvard Law School. Additionally, Ms. Yan is an arbitrator for the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and for the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) China Commission. Ms. Yan is an independent board director of China Merchants Bank.
