Richard Sergel and Sylvia Chrominska Appointed to Emera Inc. Board of Directors

HALIFAX, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - (EMA-TSX): Richard Sergel, former President and Chief Executive Officer of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and Sylvia Chrominska, Group Head of Global Human Resources and Communications for The Bank of Nova Scotia, have been appointed to the Board of Directors of Emera Inc.

Prior to his position at NERC, Mr. Sergel served as President and Chief Executive Officer for National Grid USA and oversaw the merger of National Grid and the New England Electric System (NEES) in 2000. Mr. Sergel was formerly President and CEO of NEES. Mr. Sergel is a director of State Street Corporation. He also served on the boards of the Edison Electric Institute, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency, and the United Way of the Merrimac Valley.

Ms. Chrominska is the Group Head of Global Human Resources and Communications for The Bank of Nova Scotia, where she has global responsibility for human resources, corporate communications, government relations, public policy and corporate social responsibility of the Scotiabank Group. Widely recognized and respected in the business community, Ms. Chrominska was named to the Top 100 List of Canada's Most Powerful Women by the Women's Executive Network and the Richard Ivey School of Business for four consecutive years, and was named to its Hall of Fame in 2007. Ms. Chrominska also serves on the Dean's Advisory Board at the Richard Ivey School of Business and on the Stratford Festival Board of Governors.
