ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Dan Oman, RMT Vice President, was recognized by the [ American Foundry Society ] (AFS) with the James P. Keating Founders' Freedom Award and the Jonathan Stone Outstanding EHS Contribution Award for his commitment to the metalcasting industry.

"We honor Dan's outstanding service to not only AFS, but the entire industry," said Jerry Call, AFS Executive Vice President. "He has worked tirelessly as an AFS member and on several Division 10 (EHS) committees."

Oman was presented the Stone Award on August 24, 2010, for his valuable EHS-related contribution, specifically his efforts to lead the merger of FIRST (a foundry byproduct recycling organization) with AFS. He receives the Keating Award, which recognizes significant contributions to the metalcasting industry and active participation in government affairs, human resource management, safety and health, or education, at the AFS Foundry Executive Conference on September 21, 2010.

"Dan's someone who has devoted a lifetime to the industry," commented Tim Brown, Vice President of Benton Foundry. "He's contributed to the industry, AFS, and its committees, and is very deserving of one of AFS's top awards."

Mike Lenahan, President of Resource Recovery Corporation, agreed, "Dan is one of the finest individuals I have had the opportunity to work with. He is incredibly generous with his time and has been on the forefront of many issues to help the metalcasting industry achieve positive results."

Oman has been a member of AFS since 1992, is past President of AFS-FIRST, and is on the Board of Directors for the Foundry Association of Michigan. He is also the 2002 recipient of the AFS EHS Service Award. Oman currently leads RMT's metals treatment initiative, developing innovative ways to address metal contamination issues.

"Working with foundries has formed the basis of my career," said Oman. "It is a huge honor for me to be recognized for my commitment. I am particularly gratified that the nominations came from my clients and peers."
