CHICAGO, ILLINOIS--(Marketwire - Jan. 19, 2009) - Freshwater Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:FWTC) -

Investors may be aware that, in the past several weeks, the share price of Freshwater Technologies Inc. has declined significantly since its December price level of $0.40. The Company would like to express its apologies to supportive shareholders for this recent state of affairs. We are aware that the overall current market situation is very volatile and the Company has not been immune to this market volatility. Freshwater may have been affected by naked short selling and the Company is currently reviewing its internal shareholder documents. We are also in discussions with several private investors who have expressed strong interest in the Company and may potentially invest at an improved share price. The Company will provide more investment details in the very near future.

We are also pleased to announce that the Company will be applying the water activation technology of ELCE International to help increase the sugar yield of in the Latin American sugar processing industry. ELCE water activation technology is a patented, chemical-free process that uses the flow of water in heating and cooling systems to alter the physical properties in the water which is used to reduce rust, scale and corrosion in hydraulic systems. Not only do ELCE systems reduce and eliminate these incrustations, ELCE technology helps reduce energy costs since even a 1mm mineral buildup can cause an 8 percent increase in energy consumption.

In Latin American sugar processing firms, the use of ELCE designed water treatment systems has consistently produced a 15 to 20 percent increase in sugar yield due the improved production made possible by a more effective use of water in treating sugar cane.

ELCE equipment carries a ten year guarantee which will enable Freshwater to institute a monthly rental program over a ten year period which could produce a consistent cash flow over the life of the equipment. The 15 percent sugar yield justifies the ongoing rental charges and eliminates the capital costs normally associated with the outright purchase of the larger sized units needed in the sugar industry.

Freshwater will initially focus on the significant opportunities in the sugar processing industries of Colombia and Peru. With its expanded distribution network in 6 Latin American countries, Freshwater will also focus on the rental of smaller ELCE units for the numerous boiler and refrigeration installations in Latin America. ELCE also has application to improve production in agricultural and aquacultural industries.
