AKRON, Ohio, Dec. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: [ FE ]), has named Vito A. Kaminskas site vice president at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio.  In this position, he is responsible for overall management, direction and coordination of operation of the Perry Plant.

A 37-year veteran of the nuclear power industry, Kaminskas was most recently the director of engineering at FENOC's Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, Ohio.  He joined FENOC in 2003 as shift outage director at Davis-Besse where he later served as director of site operations.  Kaminskas also has been director of maintenance at FENOC's Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station in Shippingport, Pa, and director of nuclear fleet operations support at the company's Akron, Ohio headquarters.

Prior to FENOC, Kaminskas held management positions at the Nuclear Management Company's Point Beach Nuclear Plant and Florida Power and Light Company's Turkey Point Nuclear Plant.

Kaminskas holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from the Florida Institute of Technology and held a Nuclear Regulatory Commission senior reactor operator license at Turkey Point Nuclear Plant.
