Luminus Facility Goes Green, 100% of Annual Electricity Use Will Be From Renewable Energy Certificates
Luminus' Woburn, MA Facility Purchases Wind Power RECs From Constellation Energy

The RECs supplied by Constellation Energy are Green-e Energy Certified and sourced from wind energy facilities located throughout the United States. Throughout the term of the contract, 100% of the electricity at Woburn will be matched with RECs. Each REC represents the positive environmental attributes of 1 megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity generated by a renewable power plant, and is retired on behalf of customers wishing to promote their environmental commitment. Through the purchase of RECs, Luminus and Constellation Energy are supporting the operation and development of facilities that generate clean, renewable energy.
Jim Gallo, facility manager at the Luminus Woburn operation, commented, "Our LED products are highly energy efficient, and this purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates improves the sustainability of our manufacturing processes. We are pleased to take advantage of this opportunity with our energy supplier." Woburn annual electricity consumption for wafer fabrication is approximately 2,000,000 KWh; with the purchase of RECs Luminus helps avoid 946 Metric Tons of CO2 emissions.
