TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 3, 2010) - Eastmain Mines Inc. (TSX:ER), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eastmain Resources Inc. (TSX:ER), announces that 10 drill holes totaling 2,790 metres have been completed on the Eastmain Mine property, located in James Bay, Québec. Multiple grains of visible gold were observed in drill hole EM10-04 at 320 metres depth, within a six-metre-wide, chert-pyrrhotite-chalcopyrite-bearing interval from the A-Zone of the Eastmain Gold Deposit. This hole was designed to test the A Zone west of an historic hole (332002), drilled in 1988, which assayed 14.3 g/t Au (0.42 oz/ton) across 8.64 metres. Assays are pending.

The Eastmain Gold Mine is a copper-gold-silver, sulphide-rich deposit, consisting of three known zones, "A", "B" and "C". The A and B Zones have been traced for more than one kilometre in length and to a vertical depth of 400 metres. The deposit remains open at depth and along strike. Gold mineralization at the Eastmain Mine occurs within a siliceous, sulphide-bearing unit associated with komatiite and highly altered mafic volcanic rocks. This very distinctive geologic marker horizon has been traced for over 10 kilometres across the property.

The objectives of the current $3-million program are to expand the lateral and depth extensions of both the A and B Zones within the deposit through drilling, and to search for other deposits on this 200 km2 property. Surface exploration expected to begin in early July, will focus on identifying the structural controls of gold mineralization within the deposit.

Previous drilling in the lower levels of the A Zone included 17.7 g/t gold, 25.1 g/t silver and 0.61% copper across 4.8 metres in hole 83-4, while drilling at depth within the B Zone included 61.45 g/t gold across 8.95 metres in hole 88-45. To date, Eastmain has completed five holes in the A-Zone and an additional five holes testing regional targets elsewhere on the property.

All five holes recently drilled into the deposit area have intersected highly altered mine series rocks and mineralized intervals consistent with the A Zone series. Five regional drill holes completed this month each tested VTEM geophysical conductors outside the limits of the deposit. Current drill holes EM10-09 and EM10-10 have intersected highly altered rocks containing massive magnetite, pyrrhotite and minor chalcopyrite, thought prospective for gold. Placer Development discovered the Eastmain Gold Deposit while drill testing an airborne geophysical conductor in 1969.

Don Robinson, President and CEO of Eastmain stated, "We are very impressed our initial drilling at the Eastmain Mine project. The first five holes of the program have intersected mines series rock, potentially extending the A Zone both laterally and vertically. Visible gold observed within wide intervals of highly altered and mineralized mine series rocks shows excellent promise for expansion of the known gold deposit at depth."
