NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - June 2, 2010) - The Zweig Total Return Fund, Inc. (NYSE: [ ZTR ]) announced the results of today's Joint Annual Meeting of Shareholders, which was held on May 11, 2010 with The Zweig Fund, Inc. (NYSE: [ ZF ]) and adjourned until June 2, 2010 to permit further solicitation of ZTR's shareholders in connection with ZTR's Proposal 2. At today's meeting, Proposal 2, to amend ZTR's Charter to require Board consideration of various actions instead of a mandatory shareholder vote whether to convert ZTR to an open-end investment company when ZTR's shares trade at or greater than a specified discount from net asset value, was approved by the requisite vote of ZTR's shareholders.
