ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND--(Marketwire - May 10, 2010) - New Island Resources Inc. (New Island) (TSX VENTURE:NIS) of St. John's, NL announces that due to other commitments, Mr. David R. Loveys is resigning his position as Acting Chief Financial Officer to be effective immediately.

The Company wishes to extend its appreciation to Mr. Loveys for his contribution and is pleased that he can be available on a consulting basis to advise on the new requirements relating to the changeover to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) from Canadian GAAP.

Effective immediately, Ms. Lisa Hodge, currently Treasurer, will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer.
