RENO, NV--(Marketwire - December 23, 2009) - Pacific Energy & Mining Company (PINKSHEETS: [ PEMC ]) is pleased to announce that the initial well at the newly unitized Johnson Bottoms Unit has been drilled and all production equipment has been installed. The well was placed on production on December 19, 2009.

Approximately 3,000 feet of horizontal section was drilled. Production testing over the next 60 days will help in determining the productivity of the reservoir.

The Operator of the Unit is Questar Exploration and Production, subsidiary of Questar Corp. The production is from the Greenriver formation at an approximate depth of 7,000 ft. All information on the drilling of the horizontal well is being held confidential.
