Former Meta employees say they can no longer be rehired after being put on a secretive internal list.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has reportedly maintained "do not hire" lists, a practice that has raised concerns among HR experts due to potential legal and ethical risks. According to a report by The Information, Meta uses these lists to prevent rehiring former employees who were let go during layoffs, as well as to block the rehiring of workers who left voluntarily but were considered underperformers. HR professionals warn that such lists could lead to discrimination claims and other legal issues, as they might disproportionately affect certain groups of employees. Additionally, the practice could negatively impact company morale and the overall employer brand, making it harder to attract top talent in the future. Despite these concerns, Meta has not publicly commented on the existence or use of these lists.
