The Walt Disney Company and its ABC television network have joined the list of media companies the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is investigating for their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched an investigation into The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiary, ABC, following allegations that their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies might be discriminatory. The investigation was prompted by a complaint from the American Accountability Foundation (AAF), which claims that Disney and ABC's DEI initiatives could be violating federal anti-discrimination laws by potentially excluding certain groups based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. The AAF's complaint specifically targets Disney's hiring practices and the content of its programming, suggesting that these practices might favor some groups over others in an effort to meet diversity quotas. The FCC's inquiry aims to determine if these practices contravene the principles of equal employment opportunity and fairness in broadcasting. Disney has responded by defending its DEI efforts, stating that they are committed to fostering an inclusive environment and that their policies are designed to promote equality and representation across all demographics.
