Ex-finance manager admits embezzling $700K from St. Louis County charity

A former finance manager, Nicole Marie Stevens, admitted to embezzling over $3 million from her employer, the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, by exploiting her position to manipulate payroll and vendor payments. Stevens, who worked for the tribe's business arm, Ilani Casino Resort, used the embezzled funds for personal expenses, including purchasing a home in Hawaii. The embezzlement was discovered after an internal audit, leading to Stevens' arrest and the recovery of some of the stolen funds.
