Kenya seeks new IMF loan deal, says no disagreements with Fund

  • Kenya has applied for a new lending programme from the International Monetary Fund that will factor in unused money from the current programme which both sides walked away from last week, Finance Minister John Mbadi said on Monday.

According to the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Prof Njuguna Ndung'u, there are no disagreements with the IMF, and the discussions are focused on the specifics of the new program. The IMF has been a key partner in Kenya's economic strategy, providing financial assistance and policy advice. The new loan is expected to help Kenya stabilize its economy, enhance growth, and manage its debt more effectively.
