WASHINGTON--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--BoardSource and The Prudential Foundation are proud to announce the winners of the Prudential Leadership Awards for Exceptional Nonprofit Boards:

"Each finalist organization demonstrates how boards that balance sound structure, effective practices and strong interpersonal dynamics can create sustainable change in their communities."

• Grand Prize Winner: San Diego Youth Symphony & Conservatory, San Diego, CA
• Second Place Winner: Clarifi, Philadelphia, PA
• Third Place Winner: OPAL Community Land Trust, Eastsound, WA
• Honorable Mentions: Jewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta, Atlanta, GA; United Through Reading, San Diego, CA

The winning organizations will receive grants ranging from $10,000 to $2,500 with the Grand Prize Winner receiving a grant of $25,000. Each grant is generously provided by The Prudential Foundation.

For the final round of competition, two representatives from each of the finalist organizations participated in an on-site question-and-answer session at the BoardSource Leadership Forum. The judges for the competition were Ren Deida, senior program director, Integrated Strategies, at The Prudential Foundation; Dr. Laura Zumdahl, vice president of nonprofit services at Donors Forum; and Dr. David Renz, Beth K. Smith/Missouri Chair in Nonprofit Leadership/ Director at the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership, Henry W. Bloch School of Management, University of Missouri-Kansas City.

This competition, proudly supported by The Prudential Foundation, was launched in April of this year to recognize boards that exemplify exceptional governance and demonstrate their ability to drive positive change in the areas of structure, fundraising, or governance.
