enXco and KCP&L Sign Power Purchase Agreement for 100.8 MW Spearville 3 Wind Energy Project

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 4, 2012) - enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, and KCP&L have entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 100.8 megawatt wind energy facility to be built in Ford County, Kansas, 17 miles northeast of Dodge City. The agreement was finalized in November 2011.

enXco will develop, build, and own the Spearville 3 Wind Project, consisting of 63 General Electric (GE) XLE turbines, while KCP&L will buy the power generated under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The project anticipates the commencement of construction in late Q1 2012 with expected commercial operation achieved by the end of December 2012.

"The project's proximity to other enXco developed wind facilities, along with near-term constructability and advanced development status, allows both development and transmission synergies," said Tristan Grimbert, president & CEO of enXco. "We look forward to once again delivering a successful project to our utility partner who has demonstrated both trust and confidence in the EDF EN Group to deliver wind projects and diversify their generation portfolio."

"In this region of the country, wind is an abundant renewable resource. We believe that pursuing wind energy development at this time will bring the benefits of that resource to our customers," said Terry Bassham, president and chief operating officer of KCP&L.

With Spearville 3, enXco has developed 52 renewable energy facilities representing over 3,300 megawatts.
