(Nasdaq: [ ACAS ]) ("American Capital" or the "Company") announced today that since early November it has made open market purchases of 8.4 million shares of American Capital common stock, or 2.5% of the Company's outstanding shares of common stock as of September 30, 2011, at an average of $6.97 per share, totaling $58.7 million
