CALGARY, Aug. 4, 2011 /CNW/ - Northern Property REIT and NorSerCo Inc. (NPR.UN - TSX) (together, "NPR") has announced that Dr. Kabir Jivraj has resigned as a Trustee of Northern Property REIT and a Director of NorSerCo Inc.

Dr. Jivraj has resigned because he does not wish to be in a position of conflict relating to the strategic review of Northern Property's seniors buildings in western Canada.

Dr. Jivraj is one of the principals of the firm which leases 5 master leased seniors' buildings in Alberta and 1 in British Columbia from NPR.

Northern Property earlier announced on July 27, 2011 that it has designated Brookfield Financial as its advisor in the process of considering strategic alternatives for its western based seniors' homes.
