Two new law school graduates join Prudential Law Fellows Program

NEWARK, N.J.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--The Law, Compliance & Business Ethics (LCBE) Department at Prudential Financial, Inc., (NYSE: PRU), working closely with the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), has selected two new members of the Prudential Law Fellows Program.

"HNBA appreciates Prudentiala™s exemplary efforts to provide opportunities to lawyers and other professionals from diverse backgrounds. We hope that the Prudential Fellows Program will become a model for other corporations and law departments to emulate."

The program, which was launched last February, offers recent law school graduates accelerated learning opportunities in corporate law over an 18-month period, along with mentorship and guidance. Two new Fellows are chosen each year to rotate through up to three divisions in the Law Department, including Insurance, Investments, Litigation/Regulatory, Corporate Governance, Mergers & Acquisitions, Employment & Labor, Employee Benefits and International.

The two new Prudential Fellows are No© Burgos, a member of HNBA, who joined Prudential in February; and NAPABA member Joseph Wang, who joined the company in January.

Burgos graduated from Fordham University in 2010 with a JD degree from the School of Law and an MA degree in International Political Economy and Development from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. He earned a BA degree in economics and international relations from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007.

Previously, he was a Public Interest Fellow in the office of the Brooklyn, NY borough president. He also worked with the Securities & Exchange Commission; and interned for a chief judge in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York and for the State Department in Washington, D.C. Wang received a JD degree in 2010 from Michigan Law School, where he won the Scholarly Writing Award and the Ted St. Antoine Commemorative Scholarship. He has a Master of Philosophy degree in Ancient Greek History from Oxford University, and an AB degree in Classics from Princeton.

Everyone in the department has really taken an interest in making sure that I have interesting and challenging projects,a said Wang. Previously, Wang was a student attorney with the Michigan Clinical Law Program; a research assistant with the Michigan Ross School of Business; a judicial extern with the Superior Court and the Supreme Court of Alaska; and a research assistant at Michigan Law School.
