AUSTIN, Texas--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Critical power solutions provider Active Power, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACPW) has been chosen to protect mission critical systems by several organizations located in Italy. The company has shipped and delivered several of its high efficiency flywheel based CleanSource UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems this year and is reaping the benefits of its strategy to grow and develop business in this European market.
"We expect to capitalize on our success here and continue to grow our sales and customer footprint throughout Europe."
The first order was delivered to a government organization based in Rome. The CleanSource 1000 kVA N+1 UPS system was installed in July 2010 and will provide power conditioning and protection to the organizationas datacenter facility.
The second order was for three CleanSource 500 kVA UPS systems and delivered to a production facility in Italy operated by IRCE, a manufacturer of special copper and aluminum wiring products. One unit has already been installed with the remaining two units to be installed in September 2010. The system will provide power protection to the facilityas mission critical production lines, which are sensitive to micro outages, an electrical disturbance only lasting a few seconds.
Rated at 120 kVA, the third UPS order has shipped and will be installed at Porto Ferraio Hospital located in Tuscany, Italy. Installation will take place in the third quarter of 2010.
aWe are pleased with the reception our products have received in this marketplace as Active Power builds upon its growing customer base in this region,a said Dietmar Papenfort, vice president, Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific at Active Power. aThe attributes inherent in our UPS technology work well in each of these customer applications, particularly in the manufacturing facility as our system is uniquely suited for this type of environment.a
aAn electromechanical system, our UPS is extremely rugged and can operate in a wide range of ambient temperatures as compared to conventional technology,a continued Papenfort. aWe expect to capitalize on our success here and continue to grow our sales and customer footprint throughout Europe.a
