MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 17, 2009) - Big Red Diamond Corporation ("Company" or "DIA") (TSX VENTURE:DIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathalie Hansen to its board of directors effective immediately, subject to regulatory approval. The board of directors has granted 500,000 stock options to Ms. Hansen exercisable for a period of five years at a price of $0.10 per share.

Ms. Hansen graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelors of Science in electrical engineering. Upon graduation she worked in the power electronics industry for Lucent Technologies Power Systems and Tyco Electronics Power Systems in Dallas, Texas. In 2005 she returned to Canada and has been actively involved in mining exploration. She has conducted geophysical surveys in Ontario, Quebec, Labrador and Nunavut. Currently Ms. Hansen is a director for Melkior Resources Inc.

We would also like to thank Mike Clemann who will be resigning immediately, as a Director, for his valuable insight and contribution to the Company's success. Mr. Clemann will be remaining as a consultant to DIA. The Board of Director is also pleased to name Jim Kargakos, an Ottawa businessman, as a market consultant to DIA - he will be granted 500,000 stock options exercisable for a period of five years at a price of $0.10 per share.
