A Kentucky man is facing multiple charges after allegedly releasing a raccoon into a local business, resulting in a person being bitten.
Jonathan Mason, a 21-year-old from Murray, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to animals after allegedly throwing a raccoon into a boiling pot of oil at a family gathering on May 13. The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, led to significant public outcry. Following his arrest, Mason was released on a $5,000 bond. The raccoon, which survived the ordeal, was rescued by a family member and taken to a rehabilitation center in Tennessee, where it is expected to make a full recovery. The case has sparked discussions about animal cruelty and the need for stricter laws to protect wildlife.
