A woman was sentenced to prison on Monday for her role in a burglary ring targeting Portland restaurants, bars, lounges and dispensaries, the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office announced.
A 34-year-old woman from New York, identified as part of a burglary ring that targeted Asian and Asian-American homes in the Seattle area, was sentenced to over five years in prison. The woman, who pleaded guilty to first-degree trafficking in stolen property and second-degree organized retail theft, was involved in a scheme that stole over $5 million in cash and goods. The burglaries, which occurred between 2017 and 2019, involved a group that used detailed planning and surveillance to break into homes, often during the day when residents were at work. The woman's role included transporting stolen items back to New York, where they were sold or fenced. This sentencing marks a significant step in addressing the organized crime that disproportionately affected the Asian community in the region.
