Enhanced credit, support for women and SC/ST entrepreneurs in the pipeline

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman`s eighth Budget provided a shot in the arm to micro, small and medium enterprises, as she proposed a slew of measures including enhancement of investment and turnover limits for their classification,
The Indian government is planning to introduce enhanced credit support for women and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) entrepreneurs to boost entrepreneurship among these groups. This initiative includes a potential increase in the credit guarantee amount under the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) from Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore. The move aims to facilitate easier access to finance for these entrepreneurs, thereby promoting economic empowerment and inclusion. The proposal is part of a broader strategy to support small businesses and is expected to be discussed in upcoming meetings with relevant stakeholders.
