Smith announces that it is investigating potential claims against the board of directors of Central Vermont Public Service (aCVPSa or the aCompanya) (NYSE:CV) related to the Companya™s agreement to be acquired by Fortis, Inc. The proposed transaction is valued at approximately $700 million, including assumed debt.

Under the terms of the definitive agreement entered into by the parties, CVPS shareholders will receive $35.10 in cash for each share they own of the Companya™s common stock. The proposed transaction is expected to be completed in approximately six to 12 months.
