Wisconsin moratorium on shut-offs ends April 15

MILWAUKEE, April 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- As Wisconsin's winter energy shut-off moratorium draws to a close, We Energies is again launching its Stay Connected campaign. The campaign uses phone calls, bill inserts and bill messages to alert customers who are behind on their energy bills, help them understand available payment options and work with them to prevent disconnection.

We Energies will begin disconnecting service to Wisconsin residential customers who are significantly in arrears on April 18. Customers experiencing problems paying their bills are encouraged to contact the company as soon as possible.

"Our goal is to work with all customers who are behind on their energy bills so they can maintain their service year-round," said Joan Shafer, vice president of customer services for We Energies. "If customers are struggling to stay connected, they should not hesitate to contact us today," she added.

We Energies offers a minimum payment option or flexible payment plans. In addition, Energy Assistance funds are still available to help customers. Under expanded income guidelines, a greater number of households qualify.

Customers can select their payment option and learn about energy assistance by contacting We Energies at 800-842-4565 and using an automated system or by talking to a We Energies customer service representative. Customers also can visit the We Energies Residential section online to learn more about and how to use online payment options at [ www.we-energies.com ].

We Energies serves more than 1.1 million electric customers in Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula and more than 1 million natural gas customers in Wisconsin. We Energies is the trade name of Wisconsin Electric Power Company and Wisconsin Gas LLC, the principal utility subsidiaries of Wisconsin Energy Corporation (NYSE: WEC).
