VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 6, 2010) - Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. (TSX:PGD) ("Peregrine" or "the Company") is pleased to report the appointment of Mike Westerlund to the position of Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications. Mr. Westerlund will be responsible for Peregrine's investor relations and corporate communications initiatives.

Mr. Westerlund brings a wealth of communications and public markets experience in the mining and diamond exploration business to the Company. Prior to joining Peregrine, Mr. Westerlund was Director, Corporate Development for Polaris Minerals Corporation which brought the Orca sand and gravel quarry on Vancouver Island from exploration to large-scale commercial production. From 2003 to 2006 he was Manager, Investor Relations at Ashton Mining of Canada Inc., a leading Canadian diamond explorer that discovered several diamond districts including Renard in Quebec. From 1999 to 2003 he was a Senior Investor Relations Associate at Ballard Power Systems, a leading developer of fuel cells as an alternative power source to combustion engines in vehicles and other applications. Mr. Westerlund holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Science from Simon Fraser University.
