NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 21, 2009) - Con Edison customers broke the 2009 peak-electricity demand record today for the third time this week and the fourth time in the last 11 days when the company delivered 12,242 megawatts (MW) at 3 p.m.
Today's peak eclipsed yesterday's peak by a total of 159 MW. It's the 31st time in company history and only the second time this year that the 12,000 MW milestone has been surpassed since the first time it was crossed in 2001.
