MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 17, 2009) - Adventure Gold Inc. (TSX VENTURE:AGE) (the "Company"), a mining exploration company with strategic properties in the Timmins region of Ontario and in the Val d'Or region of Quebec is pleased to announce that a three-hole 1,400-metre drill program is currently ongoing on the Meunier-144 property (please see location figure at [ www.adventure-gold.com ]).

The Meunier-144 property adjoins the Timmins West Gold property and is located less than 1 kilometre west of the gold deposit where, Lake Shore Gold Corp. announced in 2007 a gold mineral resource of 1.3 million ounces at 12.3 g/t Au (uncut) in the indicated category. This property also adjoins the Thunder Creek property, a 50-50 joint venture project between West Timmins Corp. and Lake Shore Gold Corp., which encompasses the Rusk Zone where recent drill results returned up to 24.1 g/t Au over 7 metres. In addition, the Meunier-144 property hosts the Bristol Fault, a regionally extensive structure spatially related to the Timmins West gold deposit. Adventure Gold's ongoing drill program is designed to test at least five Induced Polarization (IP) anomalies which may correspond with near surface gold mineralisation. One hole will also test the Bristol fault rock package 1.5 kilometres west of the Timmins West gold deposit.

"We are very excited to start our first drill program on the Meunier-144 property. The last exploration work on the property, done in 1996, identified IP anomalies which remained untested until today and represent quality drilling targets. Our first objective is to test these near surface targets. Our second objective is to get information from this area in order to prepare a future deeper drill program." stated Marco Gagnon, President and CEO of Adventure Gold Inc.

Jules Riopel P.Geo. Vice-President Exploration and Acquisitions, who acts as the Company's "Qualified Person" as defined by NI 43-101, has reviewed this press release and will supervise the ongoing drill program.
