ANSA MD De Souza a new SRC chairman

The Trinidad and Tobago government has appointed ANSA Merchant Bank's managing director, Ian De Souza, as the new chairman of the Supervisory Review Committee (SRC). This decision was made public by Finance Minister Colm Imbert, who highlighted De Souza's extensive experience in financial services, including his roles at ANSA Merchant Bank, the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, and the Central Bank. De Souza's appointment comes at a time when the SRC, which oversees the Central Bank's regulatory functions, is undergoing significant changes, including the addition of new members to enhance its effectiveness. The SRC's role is crucial in ensuring that the Central Bank's regulatory framework aligns with international standards, particularly in light of recent financial sector developments and the need for robust oversight.
