CORNELIUS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) Residents of a prominent Cornelius neighborhood came out in force Monday night to express concerns over a proposed business park, and their voices were heard. In a project on its second life from 2023, GGW Flex Holdings LLC was seeking a rezoning on 36 acres along Bailey Road for [ ]

The Cornelius Board of Commissioners unanimously denied a rezoning request from Bailey’s Glen HOA to convert a 1.5-acre plot from residential to commercial use, aiming to build a clubhouse and pool. The decision was influenced by significant community opposition, with over 100 residents attending the meeting to voice their concerns about increased traffic, noise, and the potential precedent for future commercial developments in residential areas. The HOA had proposed the rezoning to replace aging facilities, but the commissioners felt that the commercial rezoning was not suitable for the neighborhood's character and encouraged the HOA to explore other options within the existing zoning regulations.
