The mayor of Williamstown, Kentucky, has been removed from office and an acting interim mayor has been appointed to take his place.
Williamstown, Kentucky Mayor Mark Christopher was removed from office following a unanimous vote by the city council on April 24, 2024, after he was charged with fourth-degree assault related to an incident involving his wife. The decision came after a special meeting where the council reviewed the situation and determined that Christopher's position was untenable due to the charges. Christopher, who had been mayor since 2019, was arrested on April 22, 2024, and released on a $5,000 bond. The city council appointed Kim Crupper as interim mayor to serve until a special election can be held to fill the position permanently.
